Horace has gone missing!
Sent to learn more about the weapon skills of the Nihon-Ja, Horace had visited the compassionate Emperor Shigeru.
Horace and the Emperor travel from the summer palace to Iwanai, from there Horace will sail back home.
But as they are traveling, word comes that the Emperors opponent is leading the Senshi in a revolt against him.
Horace journeys with Emperor Shigeru to an old fortress in the mountains.
There they get ready for an attack.
With five hundred men in the opposing army, the odds are greatly against them.
Meanwhile, Halt and Will have escorted Alyss to Toscana as part of a delegation from Araluen to help Arridi and Toscana in the making of their trade and military pact.
Selethen is acting in place of the Arridi Emrikir in the negotiations.
With the negotiations finished, Halt and the others prepare to leave.
When suddenly, Evalyn shows up with shocking news— Horace is missing!
Together with Selethen they set off in the Skandian duty ship.

What I like about “The Emperor of Nihon-Ja”
I like how both Alyss and Evalyn are together in this book.
The fatherly relationship between Horace and Shigeru was sweet and touching.
It was also really cool that Selethen joined them in this story.
The way the characters in this book had to work together and to sacrifice for each other added depth.
