In book two of the Ranger’s Apprentice series, Will, Horace, and Evalyn go on an exciting adventure to help save Araluen. Now the adventure continues in this exciting book The Icebound Land.
In a desperate attempt to save King Duncan’s army from being destroyed, Will and Evalyn are kidnapped by Skandians. Now they are as far away from home as ever.
As prisoners of war, they are destined to be slaves for the rest of their lives unless they can find a way to escape.
Their captor is Erak, captain of the Wolfwind. Erak, though sympathetic to their cause, is determined to sell them.
He respects both Will and Evalyn for their courage and bravery and while he is still determined to sell them, he will do his best to make sure they get a good home.
Meanwhile back at Araluen, Halt is desperate to find Will and Evanlyn. Forbidden to leave in search of them, Halt does the only thing that comes to mind.
Once banished from Araluen, Halt is finally free to find his young apprentice.
But as Halt is traveling in search of Will and Evalyn he gains an unexpected companion. Together they continue on their quest.
As Halt and his companion get closer, things get continually worse for Will and Evanlyn.
Separated, Evalyn is forced to work in the kitchen in the Great Hall while Will is sent to work in the yard.
Exhausted and freezing cold, Will numbly works on the tasks assigned to him.
But when he is tricked into taking warmweed, an addictive drug that enslaves those who take it, he is stretched near to the breaking point.
Will Halt and his companion reach Will and Evalyn in time?
I liked The Icebound Land because it was full of adventure. I liked how Will and Evanlyn continued to work together and help each other even when things got rough.
